SAFER SKINCARE, BETTER BEAUTY
While I've personally put a ton of effort into organic eating and nutrition over the last 8 years, I had not really invested as much energy into my personal care products. We're all affected by what we put on our skin, and there's not a lot of knowledge available about what ingredients our products contain. I decided that I wanted to clean up my own makeup and skincare routine, and digging a little deeper, the info I found out surrounding the beauty products I was using was pretty overwhelming.
Did you know that the United States hasn't passed a law regulating the beauty industry since 1938? We as a country have only partially banned 30 chemicals from the formulas in our beauty/personal care products, while the EU has outlawed close to 1,400.
I became familiar with the Beautycounter through the paleo authors that I follow, the company provides safer skincare and makeup options. If you've every tried to buy organic or natural beauty products, then you know very well it can be a hit and miss process. When these products are vetted by people I trust, I think they're worth a shot. Last Fall, I purchased some Beautycounter products when they had a pop-up at Target, and continued to use them. I'm super super happy with the products, I use the Charcoal Bar everyday and Charcoal Mask regularly. They feel and smell great and even better, they work.
As a company, Beautycounter's mission is 3-part
- Education - about ingredients and the current state of the industry.
- Advocacy - for policy change on safer skincare (for everyone, not just Beautycounter)
- Create - high performing, innovative, safe & effective products,
